Pet Life Preserver
How to select the right pet life
preserver for your dog.
OK I'll admit it, some of my friends
think that I'm a little over protective when it comes to
my dog. But when we showed up at my buddies dock and
Trevor (that's my golden retriever) was sporting his new
bright orange pet life preserver, well let's just say
that I was busted on for hours.
But you know what, I really didn't care
because I knew that if something was to happen out on the
lake Trevor would be able to survive until help came.
Dogs tire out easily and could become fatigued. A pet
life preserver will give your dog more stamina because he
won't need to work so hard to stay on top of the
water.
Hey people are required to wear life
preservers by law. Why wouldn't you want your dog to have
the same protection?
When I put it that way to my buddies they
seemed to act like maybe I wasn't so crazy after
all.
These pet life preservers are generally
made of a tough synthetic fiber material encapsulating a
source of buoyancy, such as foam, and are often brightly
colored as yellow or orange to maximize visibility for
rescues.
In addition to the safety
benefits you can also use a dog life vest to excessive an
injured or older dog in the water. The added buoyancy
will cut down on the amount of stress on
an older dog joints and muscles as well as also decreasing
the risk of water inhalation by keeping the head raised higher
above water.
